Join Janine for an inspiring and empowering conversation about how we can

"Flip the Script" and in our own ways, help tackle ageism.

Armed with a passionate dedication to effect positive social change, Janine brings her years of experience to tackling ageism in the workplace and our culture in general.

“Old age” for our great-grandparents is now “middle-age” for ourselves. Within just a few generations, an extra 30 years have been added to our life expectancy.

What are you going to do with this gift of time..  how can we all work to reframe aging, and help change outdated, limiting versions of aging?

In May, in recognition of National Older American’s month, she launched Flip the Script. But ageism isn’t a one-month problem…and it needs ongoing awareness and support.

Flip the Script is a bold campaign to challenge outdated stereotypes and showcase the truth about today’s older adults.

Timed to launch with Older Americans Month, this campaign highlights:

•the power of experienced talent

•the value of intergenerational teams, and

•the growing economic and social impact of people over 50—including as entrepreneurs and innovators.

The campaign is flipping the script on ageism by sharing data, stories, and visuals that reflect the reality:

•older adults are starting businesses at higher rates than any other age group,

•multigenerational teams are driving the future of work.

About this month’s Spotlight presenter, Janine Vanderburg

What's Missing?  What Older Adults Bring to the Workplace in Times of Change

Research shows that adaptability and resilience—key traits needed right now— grow as we get older.

One study showed older workers are more engaged and better at handling emotions at work. A leader of a global women's forum told me that she was glad to have experienced talent on her team during COVID that could assure newer team members that they would navigate through the disruption.

And counter to outdated stereotypes, another study found that older workers are actually less likely to resist change than younger ones.

Janine is CEO of Encore Roadmap, in her own encore from three decades of founding and running a leading social sector consulting firm, specializing in strategic planning and capacity building for public and private funders, government agencies, social enterprises and nonprofit organizations.

As she did in founding and directing Changing the Narrative, a leading U.S. initiative to tackle ageism, Janine applies the principles of social change, change management and consensus building to developing strategies for your organization and community to address the challenges and opportunities of aging and increased longevity, and to fight ageism.

Believing in the phrase “Don’t Talk About It, Be About It”, Janine focused on how to translate research into successful strategies that can be implemented on the ground.

Flipping the Script on Generational Myths

82% of executives who report proportionate generational representation in meetings say their organisation is outperforming the competition, compared to just 41% of executives who report no generational diversity in meetings
